Cette faille, identifi\u00e9e sous le num\u00e9ro <strong>CVE-2026-42533<\/strong> La vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 identifi\u00e9e concerne \u00e0 la fois NGINX Open Source et NGINX Plus et permet aux attaquants, dans certaines circonstances, de mener des attaques par d\u00e9ni de service (DoS) et, potentiellement, d'ex\u00e9cuter du code malveillant (ex\u00e9cution de code \u00e0 distance, RCE).<br><br>Cette vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 est class\u00e9e comme un d\u00e9bordement de tampon de la m\u00e9moire dynamique (heap buffer overflow) et a re\u00e7u un score CVSS 3.1 de <strong>8,1 (\u00c9lev\u00e9)<\/strong> \u00e9valu\u00e9 \u2014 selon la nouvelle \u00e9chelle CVSS v4.0, il obtient m\u00eame une note de <strong>9.2 (Critique)<\/strong>. Elle est d\u00e9clench\u00e9e par des requ\u00eates HTTP sp\u00e9cialement pr\u00e9par\u00e9es, mais uniquement si une configuration de serveur sp\u00e9cifique, non standard, est utilis\u00e9e. Un attaquant peut, par le biais d'une requ\u00eate HTTP cibl\u00e9e, provoquer un d\u00e9bordement de tampon dans la m\u00e9moire heap du processus worker de NGINX. Cela entra\u00eene g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement un plantage et un red\u00e9marrage automatique du processus, ce qui provoque une interruption temporaire du service (DoS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le plus grand danger r\u00e9side dans la possibilit\u00e9 d'exploiter cette faille pour ex\u00e9cuter du code \u00e0 distance. Selon l'avis de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 publi\u00e9 par F5, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l'origine de NGINX, la r\u00e9ussite de l'ex\u00e9cution de code d\u00e9pend d'autres facteurs, tels que la d\u00e9sactivation de la fonction ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization). Stan Shaw (cyberstan), l'un des principaux auteurs du signalement de cette vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 parmi plus d'une douzaine de chercheurs ind\u00e9pendants, note toutefois que la faille elle-m\u00eame pourrait permettre une divulgation d'informations pouvant \u00eatre exploit\u00e9e pour contourner l'ASLR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce qui est d\u00e9terminant pour le risque, c'est que toutes les instances NGINX ne sont pas vuln\u00e9rables. L'exploitation d\u00e9pend d'une configuration sp\u00e9cifique dans le fichier de configuration : la <strong>carte<\/strong>La directive doit utiliser des expressions r\u00e9guli\u00e8res dans lesquelles une variable de capture est r\u00e9f\u00e9renc\u00e9e dans l'expression de cha\u00eene avant que la variable de sortie de la carte ne soit \u00e9valu\u00e9e dans cette m\u00eame expression. Les configurations par d\u00e9faut ne sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pas concern\u00e9es par cette vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9. Cette d\u00e9pendance fait de l'identification des syst\u00e8mes vuln\u00e9rables une t\u00e2che qui va au-del\u00e0 d'une simple analyse des versions et n\u00e9cessite une analyse de la configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il convient \u00e9galement de noter que CVE-2026-42533 est d\u00e9j\u00e0 le troisi\u00e8me d\u00e9bordement de pile (heap overflow) dans le moteur de script de Nginx en l'espace d'environ deux mois \u2014 apr\u00e8s CVE-2026-42945 (\u201e Rift \u201c) en mai 2026 et du bug de capture par chevauchement CVE-2026-9256, survenu quelques jours plus tard. Cette r\u00e9currence dans la m\u00eame partie du code est un indicateur significatif du risque structurel que pr\u00e9sentent les cha\u00eenes d'approvisionnement d\u00e9pendantes de NGINX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Versions concern\u00e9es et mesures recommand\u00e9es<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour corriger cette vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9, les installations NGINX concern\u00e9es doivent \u00eatre mises \u00e0 jour vers une version corrig\u00e9e. Une directive fournie par la communaut\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/0xCyberstan\/CVE-2026-42533-Config-Scanner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scanner de configuration<\/a> peut aider \u00e0 l'identifier.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Soulagement temporaire :<\/strong> \u00c0 titre de solution provisoire, on peut passer des captures Regex non nomm\u00e9es aux captures nomm\u00e9es dans les <strong>carte<\/strong>-r\u00e9duire le risque gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ces directives. Selon les chercheurs, cette solution de contournement ne comble toutefois pas enti\u00e8rement cette faille.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Suivre les produits associ\u00e9s :<\/strong> F5 a annonc\u00e9 que d'autres produits, tels que le contr\u00f4leur NGINX Ingress et, le cas \u00e9ch\u00e9ant, d'autres produits F5, pourraient \u00e9galement \u00eatre concern\u00e9s. Pour le WAF App Protect et les composants similaires, il est recommand\u00e9 de consulter les avis officiels de F5 afin de se tenir inform\u00e9 des mises \u00e0 jour.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pertinence pour les organisations de la r\u00e9gion DACH<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour les entreprises et les administrations des pays germanophones, plusieurs aspects r\u00e9glementaires doivent \u00eatre pris en compte en cas d'attaque r\u00e9ussie visant la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 CVE-2026-42533 : si des donn\u00e9es \u00e0 caract\u00e8re personnel sont compromises \u00e0 la suite d\u2019une exploitation de la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 permettant l\u2019ex\u00e9cution de code (RCE), l\u2019obligation de notification pr\u00e9vue \u00e0 l\u2019article 33 du RGPD s\u2019applique : l\u2019autorit\u00e9 comp\u00e9tente en mati\u00e8re de protection des donn\u00e9es doit \u00eatre inform\u00e9e dans un d\u00e9lai de 72 heures. Les op\u00e9rateurs d\u2019infrastructures critiques (KRITIS) ainsi que les entreprises relevant du champ d\u2019application de la directive NIS 2 sont en outre tenus de g\u00e9rer de mani\u00e8re proactive les cyberrisques au sein de la cha\u00eene d\u2019approvisionnement, ce qui inclut l\u2019application rapide de correctifs aux vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9s connues des composants tiers utilis\u00e9s. Le BSI recommande de mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale d\u2019installer sans d\u00e9lai les mises \u00e0 jour de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pour les composants de serveurs web expos\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gestion des surfaces d'attaque avec LocateRisk<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La protection contre des menaces telles que <strong>CVE-2026-42533<\/strong> n\u00e9cessite une visibilit\u00e9 totale sur sa propre infrastructure informatique accessible depuis l'ext\u00e9rieur. Les entreprises peuvent ainsi v\u00e9rifier si des prestataires ou partenaires critiques utilisent des versions vuln\u00e9rables de NGINX, ce qui constituerait un risque pour leur propre organisation. La r\u00e9currence de failles NGINX graves souligne pourquoi une surveillance continue de l\u2019infrastructure des fournisseurs tiers \u2014 et non pas seulement des audits ponctuels \u2014 est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment essentiel d\u2019un programme VRM r\u00e9silient. Cette approche favorise la conformit\u00e9 \u00e0 des r\u00e9glementations telles que la directive NIS-2, qui exigent une gestion proactive des cyberrisques dans la cha\u00eene d\u2019approvisionnement.
